1. Who we are
SummaryFox (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a Chrome extension and web service operated at summaryfox.eu. We provide AI-powered article summarization to help you read smarter.

2. What data we collect
Account data
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address and display name. This is used to identify your account and apply your monthly quota.
Article URLs & summaries
When you summarize an article, we store the article URL and the generated summary text to improve response times for all users.
Article text is never stored. The page content is sent to our AI provider solely to generate the summary and is immediately discarded. Only the resulting summary is saved.
Usage data
Each summary request is logged (linked to your account) so we can enforce your monthly quota and show you your all-time summary count. We do not collect IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or behavioral analytics.
Payment data
If you upgrade to Premium, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We receive only your subscription status so we can unlock your Premium quota.
Local extension data
The extension stores an authentication token and a local summary cache in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device except to authenticate with our backend. The cache expires automatically after 7 days.

- Processing Premium subscription payments via Stripe
- Displaying your all-time summary count in the extension
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with any third party beyond the service providers listed below.
4. Third-party service providers
We share data with the following providers only as necessary to operate the service:

5. Data retention
- Account & usage data — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our database.
- Cached summaries — stored to improve performance for all users. They contain no personally identifiable information.
- Local extension data — summary cache expires after 7 days. Auth token is removed when you log out or uninstall the extension.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Withdraw consent at any time by logging out and uninstalling the extension

7. Security
All communication between the extension and our backend is encrypted over HTTPS. Authentication uses short-lived signed tokens verified on every request. We do not log or store passwords or card details.
8. Children's privacy
SummaryFox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of SummaryFox after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
